The painter enjoys the solid geometry underlying overgrown, overflowing nature. A motivating force behind her work has always been the richness and variety of color inherent in the red clay of Georgia.
Recent work has been inspired from the picturesque orchards and vineyards of Tuscany and Provence, areas that have inspired painters for centuries. The artist acknowledges, "This is a timeless subject, suggesting an earthly paradise, which we tend, neglect, or pave over."
However, the real subject of these paintings is constant growth, the ever-changing state of nature. Red underpainting, rich color, and vigorous brushstroke patterns give the landscapes life and passion.
